Opera: Madama Butterfly at ROH Empty Opera: Madama Butterfly at ROH

I'm not a big fan of MadamaButterfly, but the cast for this production is really rather good. Kristine Opolais is pitch perfect for the part of Butterfly and Brian Jagde's Pinkerton was suitably self-involved with a lush sound.

Sadly I tend to sit through this opera shouting internally at Butterfly to not be such a bloody wet blanket, and by the time Pinkerton goes on about how he can't possibly face her because of all that remorse he's wallowing in, I usually want to slap him.

But nothing is more gorgeous than Coro a bocca chiusa, the humming chorus at the end of act II
